The Heritage Canada Foundation is looking for historic sites that are endangered to place on its Top10 list. Being on the Top10 list brings attention to the sites, and this can be a powerful tool to aid in its protection.
Heritage Canada is concerned with both natural and built heritage, andMuskoka is a mecca of treasured heritage. The people who cottage in Muskoka already do a wonderful job of caring for their built heritage, such as their cottages and their wooden boats. I am told that Canadians are unsurpassed in the worrld in the money and care they take in their antique and classic boat restoration. We are also priviledged to be able to see across Muskokabeautifully maintained cottages that have stood for a hundred years.
If you have a site that you would like to have considered, please email me, as I sit on the local ACO committee and would take your suggestion forward to the committee. The deadline for this year is January 26th 2007.
